Windows Server 2016, Windows 10. Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise Edition 64bit, Windows Server 2012 64bit & Windows Server 2012 R2 64bit. Client operating systems: Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows 8 (32 and 64-bit) and Windows 8.1 (32 and 64-bit) RemoteApp and Remote Desktop Web Access. You can use the Remote Desktop Connection (mstsc.exe) or Microsoft Remote Desktop app to connect to and control your Windows PC from a remote device. When you allow remote desktop connections to your PC, you can use another device to connect to your PC and have access to all of your apps, files, and network resources as if you were sitting at your desk. Allow printer redirection to RD (Remote Desktop) Session Host server: via GPO or by edition the RDS Collection properties client settings Check that the 'RDS user mode port redirector' Windows service is running (service name UmRdpService).

Customizing a host pool's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) properties, such as multi-monitor experience or enabling microphone and audio redirection, lets you deliver an optimal experience for your users based on their needs. Enabling device redirections is not required when using Teams with media optimization. Configuring device redirections for your Windows Virtual Desktop environment allows you to use printers, USB devices, microphones and other peripheral devices in the remote session. Some device redirections require changes to both Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) properties and Group Policy settings.

Customizing a host pool's Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) properties, such as multi-monitor experience and audio redirection, lets you deliver an optimal experience for your users based on their needs. You can customize RDP properties in Windows Virtual Desktop using the -CustomRdpProperty parameter in the Set-RdsHostPool cmdlet.

See supported RDP file settings for a full list of supported properties and their default values.

Next steps

Now that you've customized the RDP properties for a given host pool, you can sign in to a Windows Virtual Desktop client to test them as part of a user session. These next two How-tos will tell you how to connect to a session using the client of your choice:

You can specify custom Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) settings, such as audio redirection, for virtual desktop connections. These settings are applied when a user connects to a virtual desktop pool or a personal virtual desktop through RemoteApp and Desktop Connection. There are separate custom RDP settings for virtual desktop pools and personal virtual desktops.

Rdp File Settings

Use the following procedure to specify custom RDP settings for virtual desktop connections by using the Remote Desktop Connection Manager tool.

Membership in the local Administrators group, or equivalent, on the RD Connection Broker server that you plan to configure, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.
